Admission by recommendation and screening
Application dates: October 5–11, 2022
Preliminary review
- Autobiography (three A4 pages max.).
- Study plan (Including course orientation, study and research plan ; 10 A4 pages max.).
- Transcripts (with class rankings and percentages).
- Three recommendation letters from teachers or work supervisors. The candidate must specify the recommenders in the online application system. The recommenders will receive a recommendation form to fill out and submit.
- Proofs of English fluency (e.g., TOEFL, CBT, IELTS, TOEIC, Cambridge Certificate).
- Any other document that can support the candidate’s merits.
Oral examination
Date: November 11, 2022
Venue: NYCU Kuang-Fu Campus, HSS Building 2, Room 109 (please arrive 30 minutes prior to the scheduled time).
Information about the interview
- The content of self-introduction and study plan is about 8~10 minutes.
- Please refer to the Oral Exam Instructions and Oral Exam Sequence List on our website for the time and content of the oral exam.
- Candidates who take the oral exam should send all the information about the oral exam to the School of Communication before November 4, 2022 (by the postmark).

Information for the oral examination
The candidate must send five copies of each of the following documents by post before March 10, 2023:
- Resume (one page max.)
- Study plan (3–5 pages)
- Academic transcripts (including one original copy)
- Proof of English fluency (e.g., TOEFL, CBT, IELTS, TOEIC, Cambridge Certificate)
- Any other document that can support the candidate’s merits

Admission by examination
Application dates: 9:00–17:00, April 7–13, 2022
* Candidates must specify their interest in the Ph.D. program in Applied Arts—Communication Art and Technology Major in their application.
Required documents (to be submitted online)
- Academic transcripts of undergraduate and graduate studies
- Master’s thesis
- Two recommendation letters from the thesis advisor, course instructors, or work supervisors
- A product or a research report completed by the candidate
- A brief self-evaluation report
Any other document that can support the candidate’s merits
Written examination
Date: 8:50–11:50, April 29, 2022.
Venue: NYCU Kuang-Fu campus, HA 1 building.
Note: The candidates are not allowed to bring a dictionary or any electronic translation app. A paper dictionary will be provided at the examination venue.
Examination contents: The candidates must choose one from the designated academic papers and write a critical or reflective essay about it.
Oral examination
Date: 13:00, April 29, 2021.
Venue: Candidates will be informed of the venue individually.
